I've done it with starting fluid. It's a great skill to have if you get a flat out in the boondocks, especially if you air your tires down for mudding or crawling and the beads are more likely to pop off.
What they don't tell you is the starting fluid soaks into the rubber and keeps burning for many seconds after the fact! Good to have a bucket of water handy, and it's good to have an air compressor ready to throw some more air in before the contraction happens which could suck a bead right back off the rim.
In short it's fun an it gets real busy after the "pop".
