Does mot sound that bad, my Savage (a real mans bike) sounds a little better at idle. I keep the valves on the lose side, valve clearance gets tighter not loser over time. Valves have screw and nut adjustment. Could also be the cam chain and tensioner. I normally run a 15-50 or 20-50 oil in...
I have owned a Suzuki VS800 (same as an S50) and just a few points:
· Plenty of power for around town driving makes about 50 horse at the rear wheel.
· Relatively smooth until you get above 60 mph.
· Shaft drive, the Kawasaki has chain.
· Small tank, would hit reserve at 125 miles.
· Fairly...
What I want to know and I have yet to get an exact answer is what makes an oil energy conserving. All of the oil analysis that I have read has never had a specific additive that would make an oil EC. Rotella T5 is 10W-30 and not EC (the Goldwing looks it). Maybe a team of tribologist could...
What is important is how we act, not what we ride. All of us have a responsibility to represent the sport in a positive image; we do not get enough respect now. I have seen wonderful and at times terrible images that have been presented by riders of all makes and models. And the posers should...
This should not be an attack on the Harley crowd, just came from Americade and there were a number of neat and clean people on Harleys. With that said, I also had to laugh at the pathetic posers that were there on Friday and Saturday. I am sorry but these guys do not get it and probably never...
I tend to agree, I was at the at the motorcycle super store here in Ohio (Iron Pony) and they had oil there that was close to $20.00 a quart. I find it hard to believe that this would extend the life of a motor at all in comparison to decent oil changed at reasonable interval. In the wing I...
Keep in mind that a V star 650 is air cooled and 20w-50 or 15w-50 oil would be my first choice when it is hot. Run 15w-50 in my Suzuki Savage, now there's a mans motorcycle. The Goldwing is fine with 10w-40.
This is great oil, the thing that I have always wondered is what do they put in the oil that makes it a high milage oil. And what is a seal conditioner.
I have used GN4 and Valvoline motorcycle oil, not much different. If you wait until Autozone puts the Valvoline on sale you gan get it for a good price. I would also go with Rotella 15-40, it is now JASO MA.
Like my Goldwing, made in Ohio with parts from who knows where. I will put the Iridium’s in and see how it does, should get at least 30,000 miles. What is the opinion on anti-seize compound?
Spark plugs on a Goldwing are easy to change, I just want to minimize the amout of work that I will need to do. Stock plugs are just plain old NGK. Honda recomends changing the plugs every 16,000 miles. If I can extend this to 40,000 - 50,000 miles I will be happy.
What are the benefits of running NGK iridium spark plugs in place of OEM spark plugs in a 2008 Honda Goldwing? I know the cost is three times as much, but if there is an increase in plug life and performance I would be willing to pay it.
