    5W-30 vs 5W-20 in Chrysler 3.6l pentastar V-6.

Hopefully someone can answer this. I had a 2012 Jeep and a 2012 Dodge journey, both with the 3.6l engine and the recommended oil was 5W-30. I now have a 2013 Doddge Durango, same engine, and the recommended oil is now 5W-20. When I was at my dealer recently, I took a look at the 2014 Durang...

    2013 Dodge Durango oil?

My new Durango with the 3.6 V6 pentastar engine calls for 5w-20. In 2012 it called for 5w-30. Why the big change in one model year? Is it actually required for some internal change in the engine, or is it to satisfy CAFE? I have heard it is for the valve train? Can anyone shed some truth on this?

    0W-30 or 5W-30 vs. 10W-30 for '09 dodge journey.

it's mighty cold here in Michigan, and it seems like the 3.5 liter V-6 doesn't turn over real good with the factory spec'd 10W-30 in the crankcase. Would it be OK to use a lower viscosity oil for the next oil change? Anyone see a problem? Thanks in advance for any replies.

    2011 Dodge journey

Never bought a car based on what kind of mileage it gets. I look for styling and performance. Gas mileage should not be the only criteria for buying a vehicle. If it was, we'd all be driving one of those crummy looking Smart cars or an equally bad looking foreign junker.

    08 Liberty 3.7l oil

I have a 2009 Liberty with the 3.7 engine, and with all the coolant lines for the towing pkg., it is almost impossible to get to the oil filter. Sure wish the engineers that design these engines would get their collective heads out of their asses and use a bypass system in a location where it's...

    Mixing oil

Does anyone see a problem with mixing Valvoline 10W-30 synthetic with Valvoline 10W-30 dino? Have a stash I would like to use up. For a '99 Dodge Journey 3.5L V-6. Replies would be welcome and appreciated.

Change from synthetic to semi-syn, or even dino?

Would it do any harm to change from a steady diet of synthetic to semi- synthetic or dino in my 3.5 liter dodge journey? The engine has about 20,000 on it. Thinking of doing this to save a few bucks. Replies/advice is welcome/ Thanks

    Royal Purple Roughness?

I too am suspicious of the original poster. Don't forget the V-8 as we all know is an American thing and they have all sounded good no matter what vehicle they are in. For him to compare some foreign V-8 to an American V-8 when it appears he does not own either is ridiculous. Maybe he ought to...

    Here's the new comparison tests.

As Archie Bunker would say....Whoop de doo! Everyone knows that Amsoil is overrated and overpriced, and that all the figures they continually spout trying to impress everybody don't mean anything to the average guy doing his own oil change. There are a bunch of oils on the market nowadays that...

Need some advice-oil for my Jeep Liberty.

I recently bought a new Jeep Liberty with the 3.7L V-6 engine and I noticed on the oil filler cap and in the owners manual that this motor is now spec'd for 5W-20. I had two '07 Jeep Grand Cherokees with the exact same motor and they were spec'd for 5W-30. Is this strictly the result of CAFE or...

    Here's the new comparison tests.

I personally use PP at about $22.50 for a 5 quart jug and change my oil in both cars at around 4000 miles. Since both are new and under warranty, why would I extend the OCI to 25,000 miles with Amsoil and risk a warranty issue with the factory. Short answer is: I wouldn't. Amsoil is probably a...
