Ive got a new to me Hitachi air compressor, model EC 12. First thing Id like to do it change the oil. Attached photo shows that it requires 5W-30, FS. Im wondering if I need to buy compressor oil or would any old FS that meets the spec be OK? I have loads and loads of FS 5w-30 lying around...

FAILED. I ordered the 3 pack. Went to pick up and they brought out 1 jug. Im done with these from Walmart.

I ordered 2 from one store and picked it up. I was then able to order 1 more from the same store, but they called an canceled it. So, 2 out of 3 for me.

I would feel fine going with conventional GL5 rated oil if not in a cold weather climate.

Just did A 2015 Mercury 115 hp (Model 1115F131D). Ive been using Bass Pro's 10w30, but am thinking I'll go with Ecstar V7000 after nest season. Any opinions on these oils? oe merc filter, 8M0162829.

Thanks for the replies. The first thing I did was change the fluid in the diffs and transfer case, full (12 quart) drain and fill on the transmission, and full drain and fill on the PS system. Coolant was done recently by dealership (I have receipt). Only fluid left to do is the brake system...

Im the new owner of a tired 2008 4runner with 220K miles. Engine purrs like a kitten. What is a reasonable OCI using FS? If it helps, I do all my own maintenance, when I can, and certainly all fluid changes.

I would say that depends on the vehicle, but mostly, I agree. In my case, I use an oil extractor and pull the oil up from the dipstick. Same for ATF changes.

Honda recommends this as well.
