    Non VW Certified Oils

I have the 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI version of the EA211 and in winter my max oil temps where 100°C on the highway(most of the time 85-90°C). Usually I am cruising at 110-120km/h. Now that the temps are going up I saw up to 112°C pushing the engine on an uphill climb at 140km/h. I don't know what...

    Non VW Certified Oils

I would recommend Mobil1 ESP 5w30 for this engine. The new version is API SP certified with calcium levels below 1000ppm. The EA211 engine is very undemanding on oil and used oil analysis from this engine show pretty good results regardless of the oil used. Out of curiosity what oil temps do you...

Mechanic added oil additive without asking..

I am going to tell him next time. Thats what I thought too. I know its most likely placebo but this morning the lifter tick that I have sometimes on cold start was much louder

Mechanic added oil additive without asking..

Yesterday I took my W212 E220 Bluetec in for service. I always take my own oil with me (Mobil 1 ESP 5w30). The mechanic told me that he also added an oil additive to the oil for "better protection". I really don't like oil additives in my oil. I believe that it will mess with the oil...

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

Here is a dipstick photo from my sisters car (second photo) A 2008 Mercedes A150 w169. She bought the car 6 months ago with 33k miles from an 80 year old man in like new condition. I changed her oil in november and she is 600miles into the OCI (Eni i sint 10w40 229.3). I have never seen a petrol...

    1.0L Focus oil choice

You need the Ford spec WSS-M2C948-B 5w20 not just any 5w20. Most wet belt failures are due to incorrect oil being used.

Can anyone read these spark plugs?

These came out from my ford fiesta 1.3 liter MY2007. Vehicle mileage: 120k miles Miles on plugs 10k The car runs 80% of the time on LPG and 20% on petrol. Two of the plugs have a redish color and the other two are more of a white-grey color I did some long trips during the summer with outside...

VW Amarok 2.0 TDI - Oil getting hot towing & Interval

I have a question about oil temperatures if someome can explain. Most engines measure the oil temps in the sump. Can we assume that the oil reaching the moving parts of the engine is acually cooler than the temp reading on the dash if the engine is equipped with an oil to water heat exchanger?

    Mann HU7010z 6000km Mercedes om651

On the last 2 oil changes I started doing my own oil changes and found small metal shavings in the oil filter. Engine runs fine. No oil consumption. This time they are much less than the previous oil change. Both oil changes were done at 6000km. What do you think?

    Anyone else enjoy older vehicles?

I have bought recenlty a 91 Mercedes w124 200D with the 4 speed automatic gearbox. I don't use it as a daily driver but I love driving it! I really believe that it drives better than many newer cars. It is very underpowered but you learn to live with it and you adopt a different, more relaxed...
