I have a question about oil temperatures if someome can explain. Most engines measure the oil temps in the sump. Can we assume that the oil reaching the moving parts of the engine is acually cooler than the temp reading on the dash if the engine is equipped with an oil to water heat exchanger?

On the last 2 oil changes I started doing my own oil changes and found small metal shavings in the oil filter. Engine runs fine. No oil consumption. This time they are much less than the previous oil change. Both oil changes were done at 6000km. What do you think?

I had the same engine in a Hyundai ix35. Oil changes every 4-5k miles usually with castrol edge professional 5w30 from the dealer. The engine developed a rod knock at 98000km. I overhauled the engine and sold it.

I am going to throw it away anyway if I am not going to use it and I will anyway have to buy another jug for the oil change

I was considering buying another jug of this oil localy and compare the appearance of the oil inside. If they look and smell the same then it must be okay... or not?

Yes I am referring tou lifter tick. You can hear them more while the engine is cold at lower rpm I am not sure if its between 1000 to 1500rpm but I noticed that I can hear the tick mostly at lower rpm. If I rev the engine above 2.5k and then let it idle the tick is gone for some time and comes...
