I've put dozens of those water pumps on and never had one come back for the same thing. I would lean more towards an installation issue than a product defect.
I have done a few under warranty for a popping noise when turning. I have never seen one messed up like that though but, any mechanic worth his salt should fix it for free.
I have an 02 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3L. I drive probably 85% highway and 15% city with about 2-3k miles a month. With the AZ Mobil Super conv special, can I run this stuff the duration of the OLM if I upgrade from the STP to a Delco PF61E? OLM usually goes off every 6-8k depending on my driving and...
"The CMP actuator assembly has an outer housing that is driven by an engine timing chain. Inside the assembly is a rotor with fixed vanes that is attached to the camshaft. Oil pressure that is applied to the fixed vanes will rotate a specific camshaft in relationship to the crankshaft. The...
I wouldn't see a warranty issue so long as you don't have a sludge issue, that's the only time I've seen GM oil related warranty problems. I think the whole dexos spec is just GM trying to make an extra dollar through the oil companies. M1 0W-40 is a great oil and I would use it with confidence.
It amazes me what people will do, out of ignorance or just trying to save a buck. We had an impala about a year ago where the guy went 3x,xxx miles on the factory fill and swore up and down it was Chevys fault. We voided his warranty, priced him an engine and he went on his way to a lube shop...
I haven't done a timing chain on the 3.6L that was customer pay, always warranty. We also have to factor in that on most of those vehicles, they are getting lube shop specials with some bulk oil, probably not the best for following the OLM. I follow the service indicators on my BMW and Silverado...
It's not the rings, here is what we have to do when a customer complains of
oil consumption in the '07 5.3L Chevys.
Change the oil and make sure its totally filled to spec
Have customer come back to check oil useage
If the useage is more than 2 quarts of oil in 3000 miles we then throw lifters...

+1 Mobil 1 ATF would be a great choice as well
Let me put it this way, if it were my transmission, I'd be running maxlife atf in it. I couldn't see a synthetic causing any problems, only benefiting you with more shear stability, better flow at low temps, and the additives in the maxlife atf will help to keep the internals clean.
Don't worry, if your GM dealer is reputable, & you have issues with the other side it will also be warrantied up until 118k because of a previous issue, or at least thats what we do. Our service manager just puts a big ole' stamp that says "Customer Satisfaction" on the RO and its done. Glad you...
Wow, not even AllData provides info on this car... I'd hate to do that OC. Nice ride though, keep us posted on the maintenance needs of such a cool car.
