A friend of mine called this morning, told me his duaghter's 2000 Cavalier was one qt. low on oil, and asked if he could add a qt. of 5w20 to the 5w30 that was in the engine. I told him to be on the safe side and go buy a qt. of 5w30 to add. Would there be any harmful effect had he added the 20...

Amen, Bro'!! A while back I quizzed my Ford dealer service rep about this 5w20 vs 5w30 question (I have 2 Crown Vics with the modular 4.6). He stated, "Trust...
In 1967 I stored a 1960 Mercury Monterrey (383 CID) in a downtown parking garage in Lubbock, TX while I pulled a tour in Thailand.. I did nothing special. When I returned, I installed a new battery, cranked it and off I drove. It ran as well as it did a year earlier.

There is no Ford oil company.

Reason I'm asking: I've turned the 03 Sport over to my daughter for her college transportation. The only driving she does is maybe a mile or 2, 2 or 3 times a week and a 3-hour drive home every 2 or 3 months. It's been 3 months since the last change. The oil looks quite clean. Why should I...

No other oil I have ever used before and since did what that panfull of Pennzoil did. I doubt that I had 1000 miles on that particular change. I pulled it out, put in Valvoline and had no other occurrences.
