Chevy oil filter question

Just wondering if there are any other filter numbers that will fit a long Chevy filter application. Trying to take advantage of the PepBoys rebate and NO ONE has the long chevy oil filter. I don't know the Purolator numbers but wondered if there was a different number that fits the chevy, something they actually might have in stock before the rebate ends.

Just did a quick check on the Purolator site, BTW,,,it's a joke! Their lisings on any chevy truck only goes back to '96!! Finally found an L20049 for my wifes 86 Caprice, but it's the shorty version. They now call for the shorty version on ALL the Chevy V8's. All 3 of my Chevies take the long filter, L-34631. I"m about to give up one their stupid rebate.

The long filter is #40084 in a purolater.

chris....the Purolator catalogue calls for an "L-34631" filter, (the long one) Where did you find that number?

Hmm, just ran that number, 40084, through Purolator's "application finder" and it came up empty.

Well, foooooyeee!! Ran the Wix number and Purolator comes up as "obsolete". Guess i'll just have to wait it out till Thursday! LOL And all this so I can save 20 bucks on filters that will cost me more then that in gas and time! LOL

Went to acdelco.com, put in 1977 c10 p/u and suburban, came up with these results, depends on engine size:

L6 engine (both displacements):
PF454

V8 (all displacements)
PF1218CL (long filter)
PF1218 (std. filter)
PF35L (high efficiency filter)

Then, cross-referenced at pureoil.com (purolator)

L6 engines: L15313

V8 engines:
Long filter – none found
Standard filter – L34631
H.E. Filter – L30040 (obsolete); L34631 (new)

Try this= Wix 51794 Thats the long filter for all standard chevy v8's
