European and especially German auto workers have more at stake. Their unions by law in Germany have a voting seat on the corporate boards and most time are financially invested within the company they work for. Here in the USA, it is "us vs. them" mentality relationship when it comes to unions. In the EU, it more of a partnership between labor and corporate management.
