Hello all,
I have a 1968 Jaguar E type with a Borg Warner model 8 automatic transmission. This transmission was also used in Studebakers in the '50s. It is basically the same as the Fordamatic from the same era. All the recommended fluids are now obsolete (Mobilfluid ATF 210,Castrol TQF,Shell Donax T7). Does anyone know what the correct AT fluid is for this transmission? Thanks for your help.

From a search,

Type "F" or "FA" replaces the old Type "G".

Some use Dexron with good results but the F or FA gives a bit firmer shift

When sitting unused for a few days the fluid all drains down into the pan, essentially over-filling it. The fluids backs up behind seals and gaskets. Any slight weakness in the seals or gaskets...such as shrinkage from lack of use.... will allow the fluid to come out

Very common with the old BW transmissions....and older Ford Cs and C6s as well.
