Been cutting open a bunch of filters lately. I have lots of oddball stuff....this one is an older stock Casite CF-391 that was for a Peugeot 505 I used to own. I was always curious about how Casites were built, and the consensus I detect on this forum is to stick with Clarcor's higher end offerings like Hastings and Baldwin (both of which I like and use).
Anyway, here's what this looks like inside. I am neither overly impressed nor appalled. Looks serviceable to me for what it is....an economy grade filter. I'd still use this over a Fram OC any day.
The fact that this is NOS really shows is this view. But still not quite sure why the bottom end cap is so "stained".
