I have a 2001 Subaru Forester. I live in Dallas, TX where the outside temps will climb to 100F. What viscosity should I use. Subaru recommends 5W-30. I am currently using either Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30.

Any recommendations are welcome.

5W-30. The Mobil 1 will work just fine.

I ran my 2000 Forest to 127,000 miles using Mobil 1 5w30 here in South Florida. UOAs excellent with 6,000 OCI and OEM or Pureone oil filters. Car sold to neighbor and no issues to date at 146,000 miles. Mobil 1 or PP in 5w30 is my pick.

It depends if you have any usage with 5w-30 and how your uoa's are (if you decide to do them), IMO.

5w-30 is preferred for the best fuel economy and higher viscosites are required in high temps. 10w-30 and 10w-40 is allowed from 0F and up.
