Would anyone be able to tell me if the kit below will work on my 21 Grand Cherokee with a 3.6 engine and a ZF transmission? Thank you in advance for any help.
The FCA versions of the ZF automatics do not always use the same oil pan as the real ZF units, so I would do your due diligence to make sure that pan is compatible.
As critic said it may not be the same especially since they call the low end zf8 the 850re or something like that while the higher torque units are called 8hpXX and the 3.6 doesn't get the ones with the 8hp name.
The integrated filter is fine unless it has over 200k so you could re use it if you want. Me being me I'd skip the overpriced zf fluid and use valvoline EP ATF and re use the pan. You could use cheaper maxlife but I wouldn't. Buy a super wide pan like this to make it much cleaner and easier. I don't think the plastic drain bolt can be reused once it's taken out but I'm not sure. If not it's not a big deal if you use a wide pan to drop the trans pan on.
The only issues I've seen people report with Chrysler/Ram/Jeep ZF 8spd pans, be it on a pentastar or a hemi are your typical aftermarket quality control problems. Anyone I've talked to said what fits the pentastar "ZF8" will fit the hemi ZF8. Maybe some of the Cherokees have special fitment needs for clearances? I don't know.
Thanks for the help! I decided to just order the parts from a Mopar online seller to be on the safe side. I dont want to find out i have the wrong stuff mid service. Thanks again for the responses.
Call FCP and tell them what you want. They are very helpful in confirming the right parts for your car. Considering the FCP lifetime warranty, it would be worth the call.
I had great luck with valvoline maxlife in my 225k 845RE but if you already have factory fill and are just doing prev maint, its best to use the proper fluid and stick to 50,60,70k intervals. It is best to do the fluid change 2 times to get as much out as possible. It holds like 12 - 14 qts.
