Esso XD3 0W-30 is my new favorite. This winter I have been amazed with this oil in extreme cold.

I also like maxlife syn.

Esso and Petro Canada dino oils have served me well for years.

RLI BioSyn. Top-shelf performance, long drain intervals, biobased, and made domestically by nice people.

To be honest, though, something about the metal cans that Motul 300V comes in is just plain cool...

Ford Motorcraft 5w-20!

(or any of the Conoco Phillips Synthetic blends provided I can get it in 5w-20 (RTFM!))

Need I say more? Great UOAs at a stellar price! And It makes my Vtec zoom zoom.

Right now it is whatever I can find on sale. I have something like 5 jugs, 25 quarts, of Havoline 10w30 that WalMart just closed out and 3 jugs of Mobile Clean 5000 from a sale a few months back.
I think I am good for at least a year and a few AutoRX runs, but we will see.

If I keep shopping sales and finding great prices I may never go to a full Synthetic just cause I dont drive that much anymore and it dosent make sense, in my opinion, to do just one oil change a year. I kinda like getting under there once in awhile and checking how things are going.

motorcraft 5w-20 or 5w-30 syn blend
or
tropartic 5w-x syn blend was/is the best deal there was, now wallyworld doesn't have it

My Favourite Dino Juice:
1. Petro Canada Supreme
2. Valvoline Premium Conventional

These are the oils over the years I have come to love because I have seen them perform better in comparison to others in chilly freezing Canadian cold weather, didn't had to top up that often and also my cars warmed up a min or two faster and finally my vehicles felt operating smoothly with them. Another good thing about these oil is that they are widely available and can often be found cheaper than other brands.

My Favourite Synthetic:
1. Amsoil
2. Red Line
3. German Castrol

Okay, since I can't justify Redline (see my first post), I would go Amsoil PAO, but can't justify that either. That Amsoil SAE 30 looks good, but I have a big stash of Valvoline, which is my favorite of all off-the-shelf oils. My favorite Valvolines are VR1 and Maxlife.

I like Amsoil. My engine is very fussy when it comes to flow and lifter ticking and Amsoil is the only oil that I found (so far) that seems to flow like water in the winter and not cause any lifter tick, I also get really good gas mileage and the oil holds up extremely well in my UOA's.

As my second choice I would use Pennzoil Platinum as I have used it recently with an Auto-Rx treatment and it seems to work very well, although it did cause some lifter tick in the cold but only for a few seconds on start-up.

The other reason I use Amsoil is because the people at the warehouse in Mississauga where I pick the stuff up are very nice, and Pablo & Garry_Allen on this board are also really good people, it's service like this and a great product that keeps me coming back.

So all the oils I like in order of most/least are:

Amsoil
Pennzoil Platinum
Mobil-1 (Higher end)
Valvoline Synpower or German Castrol (Tied)

motul 300V 5W-30 for my race bike, amsoil SSO 0W-30 for my 4runner, amsoil 4-stroke small engine for my inverter (if we're getting into depth here ;))

Redline...because I've used it in the past and has always seemed to be very smooth, no valve/lifter noises, and is made from quality base stock.
Pennzoil Platinum is my second....great performer, great price, available most places.

My personal favorite is Redline, because it is Ester-based. The word Ester reminds me of Aunt Esther, a character on the 70's TV show "Sanford and Son", which is one of my all time faves.

Not a syn, but I like Petro-Canada oils. Ran the 5W-30 for nearly 9k miles in my Cavalier, and it barely used any oil (about 1/3 liter) over the whole interval. My second favourite would QS GB 5W-30 - got very low consumption with that one as well, and usually a better price.
