In early 2000, a dealer here was just about giving away these. I could have traded my Lightning in on a new one and got some cash back.

I'd like to learn how to drive a Ford Model T before I croak.

That's wild. People want an arm and a leg for them now.

That's probably the only car that could be defined as "being on my bucket list". I could get one but I just don't know what to do with it.

Top Gear UK did a spot (don't remember what season) where they searched for the first car with the control lay-out that we know today. The Model-T was certainly not it. Until I saw that episode I didn't realized just how strange it was to drive.

BTW Top Gear is available on Netflix if you wanted to watch that episode.

'68-'70 Corvette
'84 Z28 H.O. 5spd hardtop
'85 Z28 TPI hardtop
'87 IROC 350 hardtop
'87 Silverado 5.7L TBI
'90 Caprice 9C1 police pkg.
'90 Cavalier Z24 3.1L
'70 AAR Cuda
'71 Road Runner

If the lottery was won I'd like to get all color combinations of the '84 Z28. That would be about 14 of them!

A guy in my parents' neighborhood has an '87 Silverado. I know the year because of the personalized license plate. It's a dark blue short bed 4x4. It's all stock except for tint and slightly larger tires. It's one of the best looking pickups I've ever seen, period. The owner keeps it in amazing condition. Definitely a good bucket list truck.

It was very strange. I bought the 1999.5 Lightning for $43,500, and my dad bought a 2000 F-250 X-cab diesel with all the goodies for $48,000. They were selling the new Excursion for a hair over $30,000. I don't know how they were doing it.

The Ford 7.3 was extremely reliable and built before Fords needed a bunch of exhaust after treatment stuff.

Now if you don't want to put pee in the exhaust, you have to buy a Dodge, and the number of people who hate Dodge trucks is huge. If only the CTD was in other trucks.....

I've driven just about everything. My boss has an incredible array of exotics and pedestrian vehicles. Plus I rent constantly.

My conclusion: Despite the differences, cars are cars. Some "uber" cars are just no fun to drive. Not to mention living with them.

Nothing excites me much anymore, but "fun to drive" must be a large part of the equation.

Maybe a 400HP Turbo S2000 would be quite fun to own. Quick and responsive, comfortable, cheap enough, fun just about anywhere except long family trips.

I wanted one of these as a daily driver way back when my Z was new, but I could not find a single one with the 5 speed (did they even make it like that??).

Yes, they did make 5spd Z24's. As you said they were tough to find.
