Well, this is sort of in relation to my Army Reserve enlistment problem. First I get an email from the Army Recruitment Command that my RK eye surgery that I had done 15 years ago is still not waiverable. This got me so hot that I got ahold of the Optometry Consultant to the ARMY SURGEON GENERAL, Colonel George Adams. Colonel Adams informed me that his office routinely waivers personnel for medical waivers for RK eye surgery.

So what do you all make of this? Talk about people not having there S*** straight. Funny thing is that I have to do the leg work. MEPS is so lazy they will not even check my story out with Colonel Adams. I talked with Colonel Adams over the phone today, personally about this matter but, MEPS thinks that I'm just making up a big story.

Tell me what you think I should do?

Bingo. If you want to serve (I respect you tremendously for having such a desire) and you really have no legitimate medical problems, then you should be allowed to! Especially when the Army is vocally struggling for recruitment and retention. Too bad Bob Dole is no longer a Kansas Senator. He'd get **** straight for ya! Keep fighting Rob

The people at MEPS aren't the most motivated people you will meet in the military. If I were you, I would have never of mentioned your eye surgery. You will be able to reenlist.....it will just take time to get through all the red tape and get the waiver approved. Did they tell you if you have to retake the ASVAB ?? Good Luck.

Man.. next Monday I have to get my left hip checked because I had to move 12, 80 pound Refrigerent bottles.. I hope I don't get screwed.. I hit the Active reservesr this November

Maybe it is a blessing in disguise that you aren't allowed to reenlist. You are guaranteed to go to Iraq. The Army Reserves and Army Guard is forcing people to retrain into a MOS that is serverly undermanned.
