I agree with you 100%, the needs of the Army comes first. But what I am trying to say is:

The Army is purposely enlisting people with the promise (lie) of Job X, yet as soon as they finish Basic Training, they find out that they no longer have their original MOS.

I would sure hate to see Rob Taggs get shafted just so his recruiter can make his monthly quota.

Yep, and we had a similar plan for Sadam just in case he still had something we didn't know about, or he had something buried in the sands that were ready to fire.

After 9/11, I was ready to pick up a Barrett .50 and head for the field.

My feeling was, and still is, "Just point me in the right direction and give me the target coordinates."

BTW folks, our Cruise Missiles still have nuke warhead capabilities with better yileds than before. Ooops, did I say that?

Well, I don't want to see anybody get shafted either, especially a guy that just wants to serve. If the Army is getting away with this, all I can say is that is must be because of the fact the we are at war. That is to say that they may have legal right to put you into an MOS that is critical in a time of war....but they SHOULD be telling the enlistee this. But, once again, it is most likely written in small print someplace in the enlistment paperwork. You know how thorough the Army is when it comes to documentation! Maybe this would be a good question to ask a recruiter "straight-up" about this? We all know that some recruiters are similar to the dreaded car salesman!! Lol.

99% of the people who join the military today don't even know what the term 'Stop Loss' means. Yet many enlistees are encouraged to sign an 'open enlistment' contract (which means you WILL be in a critical combat skill/job/MOS). The Army presently has a program called Operation Blue To Green.....trying to recruit people who are leaving the USAF & Navy to join the Army. Their goal this year was 3500, so far they have only signed up 180 people. Even with a $25,000 bonus, very few people are interested. After 9-11, I also seriously considered dusting off my BDU's and joining the Reserves/Guard.

If I was a young guy (under 30), I would love to get back in. The incentives are great in my book, and I love the infantry anyway. Can you imagine the rank you could achieve during all this activity?

I would appreciate if you would PM the info you have on the subject. I have heard that this is going on. One guy in particular went in as Cavalry Scout but, when he got to Fort Carson he was told he would be a truck driver. This guy is just like me, he wants to be right on the front line where he could do something and be in the thick of it.

I got the fever to join up again when I found out the Guard and Reserve had raised the upper age limit for enlistment to 40. That means you have to shipped and in training by your 40th birthday. I really want to get into the Infantry as a rifleman. I will give the Guard a try but, after that I will have to throw in the towel unless one of the politicians that I have working on it happen to change someone's mind.
