You gotta get one of those spark plug sockets with the extension

Here’s mine and what I used to use which is a universal joint made less floppy with painters tape. I was able to do a Ford Taurus, including the back three relatively fast. The tool was useful for every plug. Much better than the painter’s tape version.

I bought a couple different new ones on last round for Accord because I needed a 14mm version. I returned the EP Auto and ARES IIRC. I kept the CTA tools magnetic one. I still have the Lexivon 5/8" magnetic and smaller GearWrench 5/8" Magnetic.

I got the magnetic ones because even with the locking extensions on my old ones, the rubber insert started to fall out and stay on plug. I got so frustrated with them. The magnetic ones work nice. I also hand start with these and it's easy to feel. The CTA was very nice for the Accord.

What makes them the "best" or better than these for that matter. I have Hazets I bought when I was a pup and they are still doing the work more than 40 years on, pretty darn good I would say, I would not say they are the best because I cant quantify that.

I do own a Hazet 764 (for several decades), Hazet 2505-2 and Hazet 4766-1
(very similar to VAS 3122B) and a BERU branded bi-hex 14 mm made in Japan.
When it comes to spark plugs I use my Hazet 5110-3CT 3/8" torque wrench and
yes, finally, I love my Stahlwille locking extensions. 😘

I am looking for a magnetic set that is reasonably priced. But they skip the 3/4 which I do use. They also skip the 18mm which I have never had a need for but you never know what the future will bring. . I do not mind the 9/16 and the 14 mm being used interchangeably. The same with the 5/8 and 16mm. But not having the 3/4 is a deal breaker for me.

Anyone know of a reasonably priced magnetic set that has the 3/4? I looked at quite a few of the mid level tool companies such as VIM, K tool, Tekton, GW, Astro and they are not there yet. I could buy individual sockets at Autozone, et al. But nice to have the tool box storage insert and the compact attached swivel extensions.

Has anyone found such a set in a mid grade. I am not budgeted for tool truck prices.

Most cars today have spark plugs down in deep wells. I got along fine with a regular spark plug socket and an extension, except when the extension popped off the socket and I had to fish down in the hole for it.

Finally got one of these: https://www.amazon.com/GEARWRENCH-Drive-Magnetic-Swivel-Socket/dp/B0014ZVSVK

At the time, it was on sale for about $10. Lots of other brands around that price still.

I'm telling you -- WORTH IT. The swivel makes it easy to slip onto the plugs on the firewall side of a transverse V6. Magnet holds the plug securely and the extension can't pop off. One of those tools I should have bought LONG LONG AGO. Get one!
why ? I just push the coil pack back on the loosened plug and pull it out

Plus, he who dies with the most tools wins.
A stick magnet works too.
I like magnets. I have many. I recently even bought a magnet game. Magnets are quite exciting. Electric motors power everything and are based on magnetism. Tools with magnets - whats not to love!

If you have all afternoon, sure. Meanwhile your dropping dust down the plug hole while you fiddle around trying to get the boot seated.

$10 Magnetic socket FTW.
True, but I always blow out grime/dust before I start. You could introduce that when installing a new plug anyway. If it takes all afternoon, look for a new career LOL
