I read the application instructions and they suggest, "repeating steps 1 thru 6" for vehicles over 100k miles. This would mean that each cleaning phase HAS to have it's own rinse phase, and the WHOLE process has to be done twice. Correct? My small mind asks...why one can't just run two cleaning phases followed by one rinse phase? But, I'm sure they know what they're talking about. Thanks!

My '03 Explorer tends to run a little cold...thermostat opens a little early. Are you suggesting to change it for the Auto-rx treatment?

Absolutely, it's cheap. Or do as I did, block off the majority of the radiator with a Domino's pizza box. I got to a point where I regulated the temperature with the heater, you'd be surprised how effective it was. I've used RX for years and still learning.

edweather When I read a post from someone who wants to make there own application up. I know they never read the Auto-Rx instructions let alone the FAQ and frankly are negating Auto-Rx chemistry that is formulated to give them the best performance-save oil cost-increase MPG.Hope you will follow posts on this string and application as on Auto-Rx.

Well Frank, you must have missed the part of the post where he said he read the application. He has a legitimate question, and I think he deserves a legitimate answer from the inventor.

By the way, 1,200 miles into Auto-RX clean, and gas mileage hasn't improved at all, it has actually gone down a little (and I drive more highway, less city, than before). However, I'll give Auto-RX the benefit of the doubt and not make conclusions until I finish the full, extended (3,000 miles) cycles.

Thanks ConfederateTyrant, I thought I had a legitimate ? also. Yes, I did read the Application Instructions and the FAQs several times. Actually, I thought Frank might have been talking about the other guy. I wasn't sure who he was talking about. One thing that is confusing me is apparently there are some new Application Instructions and I believe the FAQs that I saw still have the old #s (I just checked). The 3rd, 9th and 13th FAQ talk about driving "1500" miles and the Application Instructions talk about 2500/3000 clean/rinse miles. I'm still assuming that I read the Application Instructions correctly, and that I need to do a clean/rinse and then another complete clean/rinse cycle (2 complete cycles) for a high mileage vehicle with a small seal leak. Thanks!

No I didn't do a compression test first, and I have discussed that before. I think it was also discussed in that same thread that the compression test can get skewed by many variables.

I was also referring to Frank's statement that Auto-RX "WILL" (I use it that way because he says it in a definite way) improve gas mileage.

edweather,
I can come up with a decent example of why two clean/rinses are needed. It's kind of like taking a s***, you wipe it the first time, you don't wait until you take your second s*** of the day to wipe it all up. It's kind of the same concept.

We are making changes as well as new test data to analyze. Sorry for delay in correcting FAQ. Gas mileage depends on following instructions and not trying out for Jr. Nascar.

I don't drive anyway like "Jr. Nascar."

Highway speeds are between 65-70 mph, and I do not do any fast paced acceleration. For city, it's slow starts, low RPMs, and not speeding. I've always driven like this before as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those recommended ways to help improve gas mileage?

Glad your responsible driver understand increase in MPG is from 2500 cleaning-3000 rinsing miles difference in econmy & performance is outstanding.
