Yellow Purolator ADBV failure

Well, the Purolator yellow I had on the Altima 3.5 was having a start up rattle quite often. I went out and put my Champion Lab made Carquest Premium on there and voilà problem ended. It would be my supposition that this was/is a far more troublesome than an ADBV that has some cuts into it. Having said this, a ADBV that is in pieces that could well go elsewhere in the motor which is even worse than a start up rattle that was happening far too often.
I know that this was an old yellow filter. But it still should not happen, no way, no how. Very poor indeed.

What's the mounting orientation of that oil filter?

It is horizontally set.

I work at advance, and our carquest blue filters are really really nice. the red ones however are cheap as all [censored].

Its the yellow paint. It makes them not work. Gold paint makes them work so much better.
