Have 2004 Yamaha FX HO Cruiser 160HP MR1 4 stroke engine. Originally called for 10w30 Yamalube, then they changed it to 10W-40 Yamalube. Only every used Yamalube, but it is a bit pricey.

From what I can tell it is conventional oil, not synthetic.

Wondering if there are any alternatives out there?

Thanks

i use castrol 0w40 in an 03 fx140. my friend uses Mobil 1 10w40 hm, in the same ski as mine. both run great. rotella works too, the mr1 engine isnt picky with oil.

I use Mobil 1 0W-40 European Formula in my Yamaha Vector snowmobile due to its higher ZDDP content, but it is not TWC-3 qualified. I assume your waverunner requires that?

Not likely, but I haven't looked.

Have you checked out any Wave runner type forums? I frequent TY4stroke.com for Yamaha snowmobile related things so I would assume there must be forums for Yamaha summer toys as well?
iboats.com is a great forum for boating related things and I bet they also have a section for these types of water craft as well?
