Yamaha acoustic guitars?

For the money, you got yourself a decent guitar.
My advice is to quickly ditch light gauge strings for mediums. I like D'Addario Phosphor Bronze. The guitar will sound better, the strings will stay in tune longer, and last longer, and counterintuitively(until you think about it) the action will improve.
You will also play better, faster.
Congratulations and have fun.
But as far as cheap Yamahas vs. expensive Martins, I'll take the Martin...if I couldn't have my Gibson!

Get coated strings, like D'Addarios EXPs - they will last a LONG time without corrosion and sound degradation.
Light strings are great for playing - you lose tone and sustain, however.
