Just looking for thicker 30 weight oil that is also SN resource conserving, or SL/SM Energy conserving. What are the options are ?
Thank you

I don't think you'll find one. The minimum HTHS requirements of A3/B3 and A3/B4 do not meet GF-5 requirements. About the thickest GF-5 30 grade you'd find would be a HM oil that does have the GF-5 spec, like Valvoline MaxLife or Mobil 2000 Super in Canada.

Ok, so I should look for just any A3 oil to have thick 30 weight, maybe MB 229.5 or 229.3 will help to distinguish the quality ?

What's the application? I could be just blowing smoke here, considering we don't see a lot of Euro oils here, but generally, if an oil claims the latest A3/B3 or A3/B4 specs, there will probably be a VW, Benz, or BMW spec to go along with it. The MB spec certainly could help distinguish the quality, but that assurance can generally be had by purchasing a known name brand as well. Here, for such an ACEA specification, one would be getting GC or M1 0w-40 or, to a lesser degree, RP 0w-40 or 5w-40, or going to a dealership for some OE lube. We certainly don't see a lot of questionable, no name A3 type lubes around here.

Does the vehicle or its usage indicate the selection of an A3 type lube, or is a GF-5 lube preferred? If you're looking at a GF-5 lube solely for the engine protection and cleanliness requirements (and not the lower HTHS), I'd suggest that an A3 type lube would do at least as well. If you're looking for the fuel economy side of things, a GF-5 or A1/B1 would probably fit. Of course, this is all theoretical without knowing the application and what it actually requires.

Why do you need A3 other than meeting manufacturer's requirement?

If you're driving in hot SE Asia, with presumably lots of traffic and no Autobahn-like highways, I would look at Castrol HM 5w30. Its HTHS is around 3.3, which is close to 3.5 - the minimum A3 requirement. Its kinematic viscosity at 100C is 11.9, which is on the higher end of 30 weights. It might shear faster than an A3 spec oil, but just change it at 5k miles.

As posted above, I have not seen A3 oil that is energy/resource conserving.

You won't find a thick SN energy conserving Xw30. Just run Castrol Edge 0w30 SL and call it a day if those are your requirements.
