Would you use this transmission filter?

Maybe I'm being overly concerned but I do think it's only the pickup time but there's a noticable dent on it. Also notice a witness Mark where the filter punched theoth9rhe bag. Should I return this to Amazon for replacement?

Due to it being damaged you cannot guarantee the surface is perfectly round, as a result it is possible for it to suck air by which could aerate the transmission fluid and lead to premature failure.

It's the pickup. Submerged in fluid. It doesn't seal around anything.

I'd run it.

I had one for my 6R140 punch through the box because RA crammed it in too small of a box. By some miracle it was undamaged and it's been in my SuperDuty for a few years now.

This was my first thought but then I saw that the black tube with orings was probably the part that needed to seal.

Thank you all for talking me down, I'm going to run it.

Now where's the most affordable source of Mercon LV?

You are correct, I was not paying attention when I wrote that.

I'd check your local WalMart. FWIW, I have used the Super Tech AFT+4 with good results in my Chrysler, Ram & Jeep vehicles.

Just my $0.02
I usually take YouTube mechanic advice with a grain of salt but FordTechMakuloko has me convinced I have to use genuine Mercon LV. I think I will add some sort of Lubegard when I do change it as it has some shuddery downshifts occasionally.

Did a pan-drop change on our 2014 F-150 a couple years ago. I would have used MaxLife ATF but it was out of stock at the time so I used Canadian Tire's house brand multi-ATF.

I would not use "genuine" Mercon LV unless it was better value. I'd use whatever synthetic is easy to get at good price.

While you're in there, inspect & clean the wiring harness / connectors and add some extra magnets in the pan (keep clear of the solenoids).

So you have good results with this in a 6R80? I'll try this as it's way cheaper than genuine Motorcraft stuff. I think I will add some Lubegard also, it shudders some now and then on downshift and feels like it's slipping on hard acceleration.

I didn't have Maxlife ATF on hand at the time, I think the MotorMaster fluid might have been from Shell? I'd have to look it up on the MSDS.

I have never (and would never) use additives in a transmission unless there were no suitable fluids available. If I want a "better" fluid than Maxlife I'd probably go for Amsoil.

I have used Maxlife in many transmissions and power steering systems with great results. My greatest concern is not the fluid but getting the system clean and keeping it that way (filters, magnets). I would not hesitate to use Maxlife in a 6R80.
