Well after exchanging e-mails and a couple phone calls with Purolator, I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed with how I was treated as a first-time customer. I had some other Purolators from the PureONE and PremiumPLUS line for the 2.2L Ecotec that also had similar defects. The PremiumPLUS filters had more prominent defects in them.
Purolator is voluntarily paying for shipping via UPS to send the filters to their QC department. I should be getting a credit for them fairly soon as well. Once the tests are done, I was told to expect a call from their engineer explaining what the issues were.
Oddly enough it seems to be confined to filters made in their US plants. I went to AA again and explained what was going on, and the guy there grabbed two other cartridge style filters for Euro applications that were made outside of the US. They looked at least 10x better.
I'll let you all know what comes of this. For now, I'm pretty impressed with Purolator.
