Would you rather see Wind Turbines or solar farms?

Efficient solar is rather geographically limited. That’s why it works really well in California but not that well in the north eastern states.

I believe the price of solar panels has pretty much bottomed out and is currently rising in this inflationary environment. A commercial installation was recently completed in Alberta. The cost was pretty much 40 million US for 40 mega watts or a million dollars per mega watt.

Alberta declared grid alert on Tuesday. The intertie with the British Columbia provincial power system was down for maintenance, one gas generation unit was down, the windmills were useless and it was nighttime: Dunkelflaute.

Alberta is planning to shut down their last coal plant next year, but is just managing. One thing they asked was for people to wait until later in the evening to plug in their EV’s. Sheesh.

Personally I like all sources of energy: green, fossil, hydro, nuke etc

Anyone who picks a single source as best is narrow minded. I just care the electricity is there as needed and there are some redundancy within system in case one part goes temporarily offline.

You can plug in most EVs with home charger anytime however place the actual charging into a schedule via an app.

Wait until fusion power comes out. Electricity so cheap, residential meters will no longer be needed.
That is what was said about conventional Nuke power back in the day and it didn't pan out. It would be nice to have cheap and abundant Electricity.

Those are too noisey!
Really? I've been right under them in a decent wind 10-20mph and the noise is not offensive?

Maybe at 30+ mph they would be loud, but also the wind is pretty noisy too. Even stand right under them, it like the sound of a car driving down a urban street at 30mph, and much less noisy that trucks on a highway. I would rather live in the middle of a wind farm than beside a busy 55mph hwy....

We have friends who live right next to one. They were there before the turbine was as was the house.

They are loud.
