Would you be caught dead on a Honda Grom?

Never heard of it, but it sounds like another goofy bike...

This thing is quite a scam honestly... Honda promised, AND STILL LISTS, the MSRP as $1807... But in reality the cheapest anyone can get it out-the-door is $2400-$2500. The very first ones at the dealership reportedly sold for as much as $3100 after dealer markups. Honda also initially promised 120MPG. No one is able to achieve more than 85MPG in perfect conditions, with true average being in the 65-75MPG range. (Heck, my 250CC 21 year old Honda Reflex gets up to 70MPG.) So very soon after angry owners started complaining - the 120MPG number disappeared from Honda Navi webpage.
 
I’m not a motorcycle guy but as someone who occasionally drove a bright pink vehicle I’ve not cared in a long time what people thought of my transportation if they reacted negatively to it.
 
I'm quite certain almost everyone with a "fast bike" very foolishly uses that speed on public roads and places where it should never happen, endangering not only themselves but innocent people as well.
I've been riding MCs since 1970, never been down on the street. Not only are my riding skills better than 99% of any other riders, my experience tells me when and where it's safe to turn it loose. Public back roads are plenty safe for fast riding when no other traffic is around. I'm sure there are many people like you who share your prudish view...

Nothing prudish about it. Just facts and sense. Not biased by an overly inflated ego. You remind me of the kid who bragged about jumping off the roof 100 times without breaking anything, in spite of warnings, as he was loaded into the ambulance after the 101st jump.

If you don't speed down the perverted highway you're wasting gas tires and oil not to mention traveling at very boring pace...

Yesterday had a bit of lost sleep, and whenever that happens its time to make questionable decisions. The local auction had a 2012 Buddy 125 with 31k(!) on the odometer. Usually I stick with cars or trucks, but i'm having fun with small engine stuff lately. It has some cosmetic issues but all are doable. I haven't touched or even unloaded it yet but looking forward to something new. There seems to be a strong community for these scooters too. I am going on an overseas trip in November and plan on renting a scooter a few times so this will help with practice.

Usually I stick with cars or trucks, but i'm having fun with small engine stuff lately. It has some cosmetic issues but all are doable. I haven't touched or even unloaded it yet but looking forward to something new. There seems to be a strong community for these scooters too. I am going on an overseas trip in November and plan on renting a scooter a few times so this will help with practice.

At that mileage on scoots the most common failure seems to be a burnt valve. So first thing I'd consider doing is a valve adjustment.

Sure, as long as no other traffic is around and:

1)There are no curves to block visibility.

2)There are no hills to block visibility.

3)There are no side streets with vegetation that blocks visibility.

There are about zero public back roads around here that meet this criteria. But that doesn't stop some people from trying to ride fast on them, with occasionally bad results.

Some cosmetics company used to have pink cars out and about. Were you one of them?

We have very user friendly back roads here...very good for romping on the bike...

I rented a scooter in the Bahamas once. The front end was so worn out that death wobble would set in if you hit a bump at speed.
 
There's an old saying, if what you're doing doesn't involve any risk, you probably aren't having any fun...
