Expound on mmmm. What are you implying exactly. Maybe I'll have to find that Indonesian oil board to figure this out. Though it may not apply to this case, better mileage impies less emisions, more power from a better burn, better oil condition and longer oil life from lack of dilution, cleaner combustion chambers and possible longer cat life. Money is obviously not the main issue here if you look at the oils he's using. Nice perspective you've got there.

abi - your talk is TOTALLY off topic for this forum. BTW - my name is PABLO, Paul or Paolo is OK, too.

I will comment (I tend to agree) on how ironic your global warming comment is vs. the rest of the world and the EXACT reason I back our President for NOT signing on to the Kyoto farce! That said - it does not mean we shouldn't do all we can to lower emmissions and reduce consumption (especially our only way of fighting back)

why is it off topic? If you nag about 2 mpg, get a mini car, don't get a performance car. Unbelievable.

This IS

- you mention population, not the car!

abi: One more error in your pathetically uneductated 3rd world rant:

"Have you noticed lately that global warming is getting worst and the ozone hasn't stop disappearing, the polar cap melts more and more each day?"

You need to spend less time oogling oils for your gocart and read some real science on the issue.

This is ON TOPIC, but in my opinion, when you drive about 400 a week betweent vehicles like I do, 2 mpg can me a heck of a LOT at the pump, particularly with gas prices being what they are these days.

Now before abimanyu says about how expensive gas has been on the other side of the river, let me defend by simply saying, your gasoline prices did NOT go up a dollar per gallon in a week like over here. I also realize we have had a major catastrophe to feed that price increase, but after all was said and done, the prices never really went back down to what they were BEFORE the problem. I and really don't think it was a problem, but OPEC policital clout and B.S.

Now, I also agree that there may be more to it then the oxygenated fuel.

Page A14 of todays Washington Post has an article about the President of Indonesia's plan to raise gas prices next month by as much as 50%. Indonesians now pay about 90 cents per gallon. About 5500 police will be deployed to Jakarta. Apparently, some resistance to the increase is anticipated.

Sorry, a bit off topic, but pertinent to the discussion (or lack of) to date.

South America?!?!
I've stayed/worked in Brasil (Brazil for North American's) many years. A very popular fuel there is ethanol that they make from sugar cane, and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Diesel is not common in cars. Leaded gasoline was banned a long time ago. You have cars that can run gasoline, ethanol and CNG.

Either your math was bad -- your gas topoff was neglected -- oxygenated fuel switch perhaps or getting your gas closer to the gas station tank-bottom that day.... but it sure as heck wasn't caused by a similar viscosity Mobil 1 switch.
