I posted this in reply to a point specific thread in Aviation yesterday but reposting here :
In the 50s radio show interviewed a renowned world war ace. The announcer said this individual was responsible for many downed planes and it was a pleasure to have him on the show. So he asked the pilot who was a country boy with a speech impediment if he had any harrowing encounters? What's harrowing? Asked the guest. The announcer said scary or intimidating. Pilot replied you dam right!
The announcer said please watch your language sir this is a family aired station. With that in mind please continue. The pilot said One early morning I was flying at low elevation and I look to the right and l saw 4 fokkers and on the left there was six fokkers. The announcer interrupted and said for the benefit of the audience a fokker is a German plane. The pilot piped up and said you dam right these fokkers was Messerschmitts!!
