I love the old fighters and bombers from World War 2, also like the bi-planes from World War 1. I have seen the commercials for World of Warplanes, I am not a gamer, not really into video games but I was thinking of downloading and trying World of Warplanes. It looks fun, the screen shots show cool graphics and it claims to be free to play. Does anyone here play it, have any reviews or advice before I download it?

I have spent waaaaay too much time (and money-optional) on World of Tanks.
Highly addictive - you have been warned....

I have tried WoW and WoT just works better as an immersive experience.
Play 10 or so WoT battles and you will see what I mean. Each one is max 15 minutes.

Micro-transactions. They charge small amounts of money for things that make the game more fun. Most people won't bat an eyelash at spending $1.99 to double their ammo capacity or something like that. Even if 1 in 20 people does it, and they have a million players, that's a TON of money to subsidize all the people who play for free.

I have flown in Stearmans out of Pensacola and an RA4d Skyraider tail draggers booth of them The most fun I ever had..

WoT runs fine on lower end machines - just dumb down the graphics

Playing entry level is free. If you want to advance through the tank Tiers (I to X), spending money gets you there much quicker. Most fun are tier V - VII tanks. Players get a little intense in the Tier X battles. I have 31 tanks and artillery - Tier V - Tier X. Started about 8 months ago.

Warthunder humiliates World of Warplanes in every aspect and now they started the closed beta testing of land vehicles.

I saw a couple of tests and I can tell you that it seems that the finish product will blow WoT out of the water.

I've been a WoT player for about 3 years and I get more and more annoyed with the introduction of vehicles that never existed, not even blueprints or a drawing on a napkin...like the T57 Heavy. They will one-clip you and that's about it.

I have faced quite a few T57Hs in my other tanks and run a T57H. The one-clip kills are more myth than reality in my experience. You have to be unlucky (wrong place at the wrong time) or unskilled to be one-clipped.
