LOL, so now you want to talk team psychology after blaming a goalie. Pick a side dude! Regardless of whatever you believe the better team won, unfortunately for the US, it was not them.
What is your experience with soccer, so I know how to explain you a few things?
I play soccer since kindergarten and have watched numerous Euro cups, world cups, and Euro clubs tournaments (UEFA champions league), etc. since early 90s.

One thing I can tell you right off the bat—soccer and hockey don't have anything in common.

Thanks but I'll pass with you explaining anything to me. You lost me several posts ago and continue to with comments like hockey and soccer don't have anything in common. Last I checked they are both team sports, that at times are played on a world stage where you try to outscore your opponent. Seems common to me.

Anyway have a nice day!

I did. Pretty good odds for being such an even match. Honestly wasn't expecting a win but with the other favorites going down I figured it was worth a try. The shoot out was great, rest of the game not so much. Defense vs Defense

So the prize share is convoluted as a matter of the settlement with players from the USWNT. Prize money will be an equal share of 80% the total prize pool of the 2026 WC and the 2027 WWC between all 26 men’s players and all 26 women’s players. I recall there were issues before with the USWNT bringing in more income but with lower pay. And the USWNT share is going into an account and can theoretically be released if the USWNT doesn’t qualify for the WWC.

Look at sports in the olympics that have judges - like figure skating or gymnastics. It has happened forever - China / Russia always win. It got so bad in 2002 they literally awarded a second gold medal after investigation.

Difference is those were outright robberies vs the red card was a bad call. Yellow card sure. That ref must be the Angel Hernandez of soccer. Why is he even there?
How many red cards in the last 62 years were "bad calls"? Everybody else just had to live with it.

Now Egypt is protesting. A precedent has been set and everybody will be apt to protest in the future. Cant get this toothpast back in the tube...all for nothing but future trouble.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially filed a formal complaint with FIFA requesting an investigation into referee François Letexier and his VAR team following a controversial 3-2 Round-of-16 defeat to Argentina. The EFA demands the immediate removal of the officiating crew over double standards, a disallowed Egyptian goal, and unreviewed penalty claims.
Egypt took a 2-0 lead in the match but ultimately conceded three late goals after a series of contentious refereeing decisions. The primary points of contention leading to the official complaint include: [1, 2]
    • The Disallowed Goal: Egypt had an apparent second goal wiped out after VAR determined midfielder Marwan Attia committed a foul in the build-up. [1, 2]
    • Missed Penalties: Egyptian officials argued they were denied penalty calls, most notably when Mohamed Salah went down in the penalty area just moments before Argentina scored the game-winning stoppage-time goal. [1, 2]
    • Disparity in Bookings: Egypt received five yellow cards and a coaching staff red card, while Argentina received zero, fueling accusations of favoritism toward the defending champions. [1, 2]
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan publicly criticized the officiating, stating his team had "suffered injustice". Fans online and in Egypt have also heavily amplified complaints and conspiracy theories, feeling the match was unfairly directed to keep Lionel Messi and the defending champions in the tournament. While FIFA has acknowledged the protest and launched a review of the officiating, the match result is highly unlikely to be overturned

Is this a joke? Federations and teams protest and lodge complaints at pretty much every world cup. Usually for good reason.

As for precedents - this is a binding thing only in Anglo Saxon common law. The reason those complaints are submitted is to officially state disapproval, and possibly to change things for the future. A lot of the current rules (VAR and everything) are the result of previous complaints and obvious wrong decisions.

The most the Egyptians can get - no matter how right they are, because in my book they are - is getting that referee to never see another major game again. Which can happen, has happened before, but even if it does - it could impact the referee a lot, or not at all, depending of what career they want to have going further.

Used to be a time such a complaint would also be a chip in FIFA's supposed impartiality, but when the president of FIFA himself declares "I bleed for Argentina" - that one is gone anyway.

A major team dropping from a championship is a major economical event. When Germany dropped early in 1994 there were mentions that 10k hotel reservations were cancelled. Every German had booked till the finals, then suddenly they had less reasons to stay.
