I don’t know the rules but since they are the next opponent hard to argue they don’t have an interest.Their appeal was rejected on the grounds that Belgium isn’t a party to the controversy.

It depends how much arguing and VAR reviewing was during the regular time. I didn't watch closely that game. How was Mexico given 11 minutes added time? That seemed 4-5+ minutes host bonus.

Well, a fault play in the penalty area is almost always a direct penalty kick. If it was out of the penalty area it would've been different kick.Looking at the play in real time I could see possibly, and I emphasize possibly, an indirect free kick awarded for an unsafe play, but a penalty kick, IMO, was inappropriate.
Understood. Was hoping for a resolution that would restore confidence. Thank you for the patient responses. They may have an interest, but their player wasn't suspended and the penalty wasn't committed against one of their players. I believe in the American court system, this is referred to as 'standing'.
That is my brothers conclusion about VARThe foul I did not understand was the one that gave Mexico a penalty kick. I saw two players playing the ball, the English one a millisecond behind the Mexico player. The fact that incidental contact was made and the Mexico player went down doesn't make it a penalty. If the English player was playing the opponent and not the ball, I could see the call.

I don't think the VAR process adds to the game.
A substantial percentage of professional soccer is to trip the opponent into a punishable offense. The higher the level - the nastier the tricks....

Utterly corrupt...Any U.S. victory will now be tainted.
I would have rather lost despite the bad call then win with it overturned.FIFA has painted itself into a corner. They stick to the red card, then the USA screams bad call. They reverse the card, the rest of the world screams its unfair, two sets of rules, the WC is rigged.
In pro sports there ARE two sets of rules. One for the superstars, one for everyone else. This whole thing is a mess. The whole world is supporting Belgium right now. Everyone across the globe is saying if the USA wins, its tainted. Can you imagine if the US wins 2-1 and Balogun scores both goals?

It's all about visuals now, not any proof of any impropriety. Follow the proper channels to challenge it.So FIFA was FORCED to change?
How did that go down?
