I would use a Dexos licensed product until the warranty is out. Then use what you want... as I think Super Tech Syn is more than good enough.
If you don't want to be forced to use Dexos, don't buy GM. They keep making me want their products less and less (Dexos is a small issue but proves my point). I have no problem with a maker saying you must use SpecX item and any product meeting that spec is good, but Dexos is back-handed "protection money" via the license.
