WM/SuperTech/Citgo....continued

Recently i ran a thread where i expressed my displeasure of WM using Citgo as a blender in some regions for Supertech... Because I made a thread 'against', i feel a new thread 'for'is in order due to many of your posts, insights and the recommendations to look at it from another angle.

I tend to overthink and then have knee jerk reactions at times (they go poorly together). If Supertech synthetic were striclty a CITGO product, my thread may have made more sense or held more weight. But you are correct, WPP has no fault in this and it would not be fair to them, who make a great product, not to purchase Supertech anymore. So, as long as the bottle says WPP or anything other than CITGO (don't know their logo), i will continue to purchase.

Who cares about politics...we buy oil products from lots of people who hate us. They do like our money and coming to our country though.

Besides, like you said, WPP makes it for some areas. Where I am, Supertech is WPP.

Besides, AAP has Havoline syn on sale anyway, which is Chevron and not Citgo.

If a Citgo product provides good value, I'll purchase without hesitation.
Now, to get in on some of those .59/qt. after mail in deals at some of the farm stores. Unfortunately, slim and none around here.

I have my own views about religion, politics etc.

I use and buy goods that stand for the opposite of what I do. If I went over everything I bought with I fine toothed comb, I'd probably be a starving naked dude with no belongings.

The OP didnt want to support Venezuela, nor give the impression to a company with enormous buying power that he was supporting product that was sourced from a venezuelan owned company. So what? Ill bet there are plenty of Jewish folks who wont buy German products. Chinese who wont buy Japanese products, and so on. Sometimes we have no choice, or there is no practically better choice. So it goes for crude, which may well be from Venezuela and nothing that anyone in a region can do about it. Does not mean that folks cant make good conscious buying decisions when and where it is sensible, and they should stand proud over them.

When it comes down to it, all of these companies are global and CITGO itself employs a large number of Americans right here in the USA... complicated topic to be sure.

There were very few name brands that I would never buy regardless of price, Citgo was 1 of them when Chavez was alive. Since he passed away few years ago and the new government seems less hostile to US, I may buy Citgo gas and/or oil if the price is right.

The thing is there is no Citgo gas station in So Cal, and almost no Citgo anything in any store. So I don't have to buy any Citgo product.

I was in Meijer this evening and saw their oil was "packaged by Warren." A few of the bottles said that and a few just had the Warren logo. Not sure on all other regions or if there are any stores in Florida, but that's something to consider too.

I refuse to support my enemies whenever possible. The whenever possible takes into account the availability of other goods and their pricing.

Citgo on one corner, Marathon on the other, Marathon gets my money.

Neither is Top Tier so they are both out the window for me where fuel is concerned. Unless, of course, I find a Marathon or Citgo that's ethanol free.

CITGO claims to meet or exceed the Top Tier standards for detergentcy now. I sometimes use it for that fact since there is only one actual TT company here in Mobil..

I find it funny that you express issues with an oil sold at Wal-Mart. You take up issue with Citgo, but Wal-Mart's crusade to kill competition and small business is alright? [censored], I shop at several chain stores myself, but Wal-Mart really takes the cake. I just can't help but chuckle. It's like saying you're upset with a massive cult of rapist because they use condoms made it China rather than Nebraska.
