WM Exclusive: Goodyear Reliant All-Season

I just put them on a Chevy Equinox front driver, replacing some very noisy Pirelli Scorpio Verde's. Ther were a black friday deal, $46 markdown ($20 off per tire and free installation). A good deal; on the road they're great. Quiet and comfortable; no discernable deficiencies.
 
I bought a set of 185/65-15s right before Thanksgiving and now have about 5500 miles on them. Very satisfied so far. They have better grip than the Continentals my Rio came with, and are not noticeably noisier. There was a little bit of a hum on wet pavement during the first few hundred miles, but after the first rotation I no longer hear it. We just came out of an ice storm and they even did OK on the ice, as long as I wasn't too adventurous.

I hadn't bought tires at Walmart in several years, but if these keep on as they have been, I'll definitely buy another set when the time comes.
 
I bought a set of 255-50R20s (65K) recently. They appear to be the Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire (65K) dropped into a mold that says Reliant instead of Assurance with a minor tread design tweak. Pricing seems to be in the same ballpark for both.

In my Walmart they have the Assurance sitting right next to a Reliant tire. Reading reviews I'm not sure the Assurance is worth the extra cost.
 
As for the significant price difference between Reliant and Assurance, a reviewer somewhere on the web pointed out the difference in the sipes, and said the Assurance may work a bit better in the wet. He also speculated that the compounds may be different. But who knows other than Goodyear?

However, I do think the price differences between these two tires goes well beyond the differences in manufacturing costs, which I doubt is even 10%. So maybe Goodyear decided they can sell to Walmart for much less, but make it up with volume. And then maybe Walmart's markup isn't as much as Tire Rack/Discount Tire and others. I can tell you from my experience in sales, very large national companies get very large discounts for mass quantity purchases.

I have a set of them waiting for me to pick up at Walmart. The Cross Climates I have on are OK for at least another year. I was forced to buy them because they were way to cheap to ignore.
I paid $231 for tires/tax. I will have them installed probably next fall. I have 19560R15 tires on a 2016 Focus S. So I think they should do OK.

I forgot what I paid at Costco for the Michellin Cross Climates. I think it was north of $600. I had a rebate that got the price down to what were some of the pricier tires I have bought for that size.
 
Got mine $52/ea with free shipping for my 99 accord. Very current date codes, and they seem fine sitting in the garage but I’ll find out once they’re mounted and balanced. Have to take them to a local shop for that.
The existing tires have plenty of tread, but they’re old. Time for fresh rubber.

Got 3 sets and they are good tires in my book. Made in Mexico but at least they aren't made by a communist superpower!
 
Had some of these installed a few years ago, after I got a flat tire on my vehicle and Walmart was the only available option.

So far they have been good tires. Overall, very satisfied.

Had these mounted a few days ago. Haven’t put many miles on them yet but so far so good. Nicer ride and quieter than what was on there before. Did just fine in a heavy rain.
 
Almost bought reliants for $42 but buying online to mount later is usually a hassle at WM, my store wants to double the mounting and balance fees unless you buy from in store inventory.

Haven’t found a local that just quickly and cheaply mounts a tire to a rim $12 + a few bucks of shop supplies if a valve stem is needed was my go to for 15 years, very disappointed I have bring in the rims and fight to get a walk in tire mounted.

Called around the Bay Area when I bought one Reliant to make a spare tire. BigO wanted $50. Wheel Works was $50. Some local shops $50. $50 seems to be the modal number around here. Americas Tire wanted $32.

At $50 I would get a new manual unit (old one doesn’t work with much above 14” because it’s hard to break the bead correctly)

Yeah around here $20ish is the best rate if you can get the place to honor it (usually need to buy the tire and mount there to get the rate)
Sky is the limit if you don’t shop around. Motorhome place was $100 if you were unfortunate enough to have a tire pop while in their possession, higher still if it was a dual.

Nobody independent wants to touch a tire or AC anymore, it’s all chain stores now.
 
I put a set of Reliants on my inlaws 2021 Nissan Rogue over a year ago. I mail ordered them through WM and had a local tire shop mount and balance them. The tires were just under $100/ea. The M/B was $100.

No complaints about the tires. No noticable wear at this point.
 
I guess I almost forgot how long it’s been since I worked in a tire shop but a couple shops here wanted $40+ per wheel to mount and balance. The shop I usually go to was $25 each. That’s where I went.
