Today I received an O'Reilly Auto parts store flyer e-mail. It had an ad for the WIX XP oil filter, $3 off.
I don't ever recall WIX making such a filter....???? Either I am losing my memory (mind), or, this is a new type of WIX filter. I am guessing it's in the FRAM ULTRA, M1, and NAPA Platinum category, correct?

It's been talked about a lot here. The WIX XP and the NAPA Platinum are the same filter inside. It's a nice filter, but the efficiency is only advertised to be 50% @ 20 microns from WIX.

Oh, ok. I remember now. I guess I just don't see the XP talked about a lot on here.

LoL ... WIX specs are WIX specs. Some people don't care about efficiency, but I think most do.

Wix XP filters are great stuff and well-made high quality. They've been around for a few years, the first year being exclusive to Napa.

Whatever the specs are, it's just too expensive a filter for me to consider. One place, where I have a deal, wants about $30 for a filter for my G37. The normal Wix is a third that. The Hastings is less than that. A Fram Ultra or an M1 can be head for a bit more than the regular Wix, at least when those two options are on sale.

Blue Oval, you even posted a comment in this thread back in 2014, so maybe you are slipping a little.

Yes, I commented in that post about the NAPA PLATINUM, not the WIX XP.

BTW, I KNOW I'm slipping. It's all Z06's fault. He has me so scared to talk about the WIX XP!

DN3, I want to thank you as well. Your knowledge about oil and filters has overwhelmed me a lot, as to make me want to learn as much as I can. Thanks for your well thought out replies and the time you take to explain in great detail what you are referring to.

ZeeOSix will tell you the WIX XP is like holding a fishing net in the oil stream.

Not looking to get flamed by the WIX lovers here but isn't the Fram Ultra 99% @ 20 microns? Why would this be considered a "great" filter?

^^^ The WIX XP is constructed very well, but efficiency isn't too great per WIX themselves. But like said earlier, some people don't believe that efficiency is very important in an oil filter.
