Wix Vs Purolator

Doing some digging on filters for the wifes 2015 Edge with the 2.0 as the service is due within the next 1k miles. Car is ran about 10 miles a day and then gets used as the vacation vehicle. Since it is is ran on short trips, but it does get to operating temps during that trip I normally change the oil every 6k miles with either Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge black bottle.

As far as the filters go im undecided. I found a "deal" on PurolatorOne PL10241 for 6.30 per filter. or the Wix non XP which comes out to 6.80 per filter. From what I can find there is a decent amount of questions on the Wix brand now, so would the Purolator be the way to go?

Some of the WIX filters appear to be Purolators made in the Fayetteville factory. Either one should be ok, but make sure the louvers are open in the center tube.

I might consider Fram TG3614 or FE3614 as well.

I just use the Motorcraft filters in my Fords.

Honestly, there are already hundreds of threads about brand X, Y and Z filters and how they compare/contrast in this forum.
Each brand you discuss has had many happy users, and some dissatisfied customers.
There are examples of failures from every brand you can think of.
There are examples of excellent filters after 10k miles of use (or more) for those same brands.

The only agreement you'll find here is that there's no agreement on what the best or worst filter is.

Go to Walmart and pick up an OEM Motorcraft oil filter and be done with it.

On my every day driver (40ish miles per day) 2007 oil burning 2.4L Camry I run Purolator Tech TL20195's for 3,000 mile oil changes. They cost $2.45 each on Amazon, are exactly the same as Purolator's basic red cans, and work great for my purposes. If you want to save some money you can go that route, but for your purposes, I would just pony up the $14 at Walmart and get a Fram Endurance and run it for two oil changes and sleep well. That is what I do with my wife's Civic that is driven very much the same as yours.

Take an oil sample to see how the engine is with a 6k oil change. I'm sure either filter will work fine at 6k.
