Purolator or Wix?

I just ran out of Mopar-branded Fleetguards for my 2004.5 Dodge Cummins...

I ran Purolator for a good many miles on my 99 (201k to be exact), but I also have a local source for Wix filters.

Would there be a problem running either of these filters for 20k FCIs?

I assume you're referring to the full flow conventional filter. To me, 20k miles seems a bit too long for these filters you've mentioned. Unless you're running a bypass system ...

Also, I believe they make a "XD" version...should I do the standard or the XD? I'm guessing the XD is probably a glass media??

Yes, that would have been helpfull info in your first post.

I'd say either the Wix or Purlator would work fine. It's only there to catch the big stuff, anyway. You'll get great benefit for fluid longevity with the GC filter setup.

I believe that "standard" Wix uses a glass-enhanced cellulose media. IIRC, the XE is an extended efficiency version of the standard filter (even better media), and the XD is a hybrid type that has a small bypass filter stacked vertically with the main filter, all in the same casing. Check them out at Wix website.

Overall, I'd think because you're running a bypass system, the regualr Wix would suffice just fine. I know they make an XE version for your ISB, but I'm not sure about the XD application. The XD's are typically for much larger diesel applications. Too bad they don't cover our light-duty diesel truck market with these; they would sell a lot to people like me and you. No need for a seperate bypass system if you can get a hybrid XD filter.
