I spun a Wix onto the motorhome (version of the 7-inch-long FL299) the other day and noticed it seemed to have more than usual play on the stud when only half way on. I checked a Wix vs Purolator (both respective versions of the Motorcraft FL1A) and found that the threaded hole was tighter on the Purolator. Also noticed with the Wix that some of the black rubbery sealer for the bottom of the can end of the perforated center tube was splattered in the bottom like a few little drips that hopefully won't work lose and get into the engine. Just find it odd as I thought Wix was top quality. Anybody else observe this?

I haven't noticed any of my Wix's being loose on the filter tube..I think I had a Motorcraft do that to me once. I've seen thoes same glue splatters on the bottom of the last two Wix's I bought also..but that's the glue that holds the media in place..pretty sure that stuff won't be going anywhere.

Yes I noticed it too! I scraped the splatters off before I installed it. The splatters came off easy so I would assume they are probably....well hopefully they are back in the filter media.

What ever happened to quality control?
