WIX 51334 vs. 51381

Bit of a dilemma here, as far as an '04 Lancer is concerned with a 1.6L inline 4 engine. The OEM filter for this application is a Mitsubishi MD136466 filter, and the WIX equalivant is the 51381:

Since all Mitsubishi filters use a 20 x 1.5mm thread size, and I previously made a bulk purchase of WIX 51334 filters, that was what I installed for this application:

Will the 51334 be alright, or should I replace it with an OEM? I don't think I will be able to find a 51381. Any input will be appreciated, thank you!

Only thing that would give me some concern is the gasket diameters. I tried a subsitution similiar to this on a motorcycle 2 years back and it leaked when I started it up. Leaked, is maybe the wrong word... about 2 qts dumped on my garage floor in about 3 seconds time.

Gasket differences usually work between the 2.7-8/2.3-4 vs. 2.4/2.2 filters. Some man's xref a 2.8 for a 2.4 app. The bypass valve isn't that far out of whack. A Purolator would be 12-16 generically ...the Wix 8-11. I would have no issue, assuming there is no fitment issue with the gakset, with doing this part number reduction.

If you're going to be using the thread/gasket size of the 1334, try the Wix 1356. It offers better beta ratios. Costs about 50 cents more though, but worth it in my opinion. I don't know if that gasket would work in replacement of the 1381 however, as I have no experience with that filter.

Many thanks for the input. There are no leaks or anything like that, so I'll just keep it installed. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Seems to be doing well with the PP 10W-30.

Can I ask what a "beta ratio" is? I've noticed some specification sheets list it and others don't, even though they're from the same manufacturer.
