My low note horn is shot, so I bought a set of Wolo Maxi-Sound replacements. But I'm thinking of maybe splitting the wires and mounting the new horns on the driver side and then also replacing just the low note on the passenger side. That way, I'd have 2 high tone and 2 low tone sounding together. Does anyone know if that would require a relay, separate wiring, or a stronger fuse, or I can simply split the wires right before the connection and double my fun?

I wanted to get the Wolo roof mount air-horns and try to mount them behind the bumper, but I couldn't figure out a good secure place with enought room to put them.

Thanks for any input.

And before anyone suggests it, I have recently outgrown the desire to put these kind of horns on my Jeep, though I do own several sets:

Always use a relay for horns. I humbly suggest the little Bosch generic relays used on fullsize Fords from '91 to current. The same relay is used for fuel pump,A/C and horn and can take 30 amp loads.

Your horn switch usually works via grounding, and is limited by the amount of amperage it can take.

If you ever want to have some fun wire an old 6 volt horn into the system. If you blast it for a long time it will blow it out but it's great for short bursts. Extremely loud as well.

Buy quality relays like BOSCH or HELLA. Get quality wire as well. Susquehanna Motorsports has a nice schematic to download for this.

I got tired of the yahoo's not being able to hear the tinny-sounding horns on my '01 DODGE Ram, so I salvaged the 4-note set from my old Chrysler (originally from a Cadillac) and added a low-tone, big bell marine horn.

5-horns, 1-relay, 2-main runs and splits to 3 and 2 off of the battery (15A fuse).

Quality crimps and heat-shrink tubing. Plastic sheathing for the wires from another old project, all zip tied every 4-6". 13.1V at horns. Also, due to the better voltage (I assume), I have a bit more control over horn.

They can "hear me now".
