My WIRED computer mouse failed. So I grabbed a wireless mouse about two years old that my wife had around here and pressed it into service. I downloaded software and such.

This is the first wireless mouse I have ever used. One question:

It is a Model 1023 and uses a AA battery.

Do these things have an on-off button (on the mouse itself) or procedure? I cannot figure it out and the wife tossed the original paperwork. I just want to conserve the battery as I hate buying batteries. The part that hooks into the computer port draws wnergy from the computer so it has no battery.

In mine, the mouse has a spot to store the USB receiver, and when you put the receiver into it, it presses a button that shuts off the mouse. I cut a piece of plastic to be the same size as the USB stick and put it in there to shut off the mouse. Maybe there's a similar button on yours.

Battery life is much improved--it went from 1 mo to 8 mo and counting.

I currently have two in use one on the second computer and the kid has one on here laptop,i really like them, convenient to use small just all around better IMO.

one shuts off with a little switch under the mouse and the other must auto shut off because there's no switch.

also both of mine auto installed(plug and play) no software needed.
