So I wnat to get new blades. Doe shigher price mean better quality? I'm looking at PEAK wiper blades and they look decnt and are fairly cheap. Anyone know if this is a good OEM wiper blade replacemnt? Thanx

nope, not necessarily so. Ultimately, all wiper blade rubber materials would either become worn, or hardened due to environmental pollution + UV +ground ozone. In PNW area, wipers typically lasts 2 seasons before they all need to be replaced, one way or another.

I've been switching over to using Anco all-seasons (price-conscious) and unless you are willing to spend mullahs on brand names such as Bosch icons or PIAAs, otherwise, ordinary ones should justify your needs.

BTW: most replacement steel frame wiperblades from aftermarket sources are either from india, mexico or china, occasionally from korea.

Q.

I have a set of Anco Contours on the Saturn and they seem to be working very well. I've never heard of PEAK Wiper Blades before, where did you find them?

Even if my wiper blades are working fine, some twit doing a NYS inspection will find something wrong and I can either drive away, replace them myself and come back or just pay the inspection place to replace them (normally what I do).

I usually run wiper blades until the rubber separates and starts flapping or the streaking is so bad the it obstructs vision. I used to use regular old Anco or Michilin blades from Wally World. Looking around to replace them on both vehicles a few days ago I decided to try Tripledge. The lifetime replacement warranty is what made me decide to spend the few extra dollars. We will see how this warranty works when it is time for replacements. Inside the package there was a card to fill out with you address and vehicle make, model and what not. Said if you send in the card within 30 days no shipping would be charged for the replacements. We will see if it is worth it or not in 8 months to a year. They seem to be doing a good job so far, no better or worse than any of the other ones I have used.

Trico NeoForm is almost 50% off at Amazon with free shipping for orders $25 or more, and has $20 rebate for a pair. I had it on my cars, it is very sleek looking and clean the windshield very well and very quiet, I just had it 2 weeks so that I don't know how long it will lasted. My OEM blades lasted 5 years, replaced with Anco 3 years ago and still working okay, but I like to try the new frame less wiper blades to see how it works and how it looked on the cars.

Consumer's Digest says blades gt iffy or worn at 6 months. I have to agree. They are best when a few weeks old. They go bad fast.
Their advice and my experience is to get new reasonably priced blades rather frequently. Not over a year.
How any one gets 5 years out of a set is beyond me. Exposure to airborne pollutants, oxidation, and wear, makes this remarkable.

PEAK= generic line of cheap auto parts, antifreeze, w.w. solvent, etc.

Personally sell the Anco "91" series blades with excellent customer satisfaction. The cheaper "31's" are at least as good as OE.

I've had terrible experiences with Bosch blades, useless at 6 months.

Of the aftermarket blades I've used, I've liked Ancos and now the Michelins.

I've had the best luck with Motorcraft wipers though. They work the best and seem to do so the longest.

Motorcraft wipers are built by Valeo.

I have never been disappointed with any Valeo wiper blade, what a shame most stores no longer sell them.

I am sick of a thousand different types. I made the mistake of buying Trico heads and all. Then I bought Anco refills and they didn't fit. I don't like the way you have to bend the refill to replace in on the Trico heads.

You should just replace the entire blade assembly.

blade assembly replacement is poor economy...

However having the best squeege possible is smart for safety.

Id get PIAA silicone squeeges, and be done with it. PIAA sells a good blade assembly too, if you're inclined to go that route. It is an "old fashioned" part, not these Bosch icon type all one piece frameless blades, but that also means they're replaceable :)

Motorcraft's are made by Trico, not Valeo.

Bosch quality is no longer what it used to be across the board . Their wipers are gahbage. I have had better luck with the chinese stuff from the local odd lots store

Let me rephrase my statement to include the thought that I think it's best to get 2-3 cheap sets than one good set over any period of time.

I bought some Duralast wiper blades from AutoZone cause they were BOGO free.

BIG mistake, they chatter like crazy.....unless you are driving through a monsoon.

I usually use Rain-X blades and found them to work best and chatter/squeak the least. I bought a set of Napa blades on sale a few weeks ago and they squealed like a banshee even in a hard rain. Tried a few things to fix it, but we don't get much rain here this time of year. Last night it rained pretty steady on my way home and the Napa blades started their squeaking and squalling again. Lucky for me I had the sense to save my old Rain-X blades so I pulled over at a gas station. The old Rain-X went on and the Napa's went in the trash can. I had no more squeak/chatter problem last night the rest of the way home and have not had a single problem since. The Rain-X are still wiping OK but I'll replace them soon.
