Hi All,

I bought a pair of Weathertech window deflectors for my '99 Civic a while back so that I could crack the windows during the rain and not get rained on however the passenger side was just too "tight" when it get near closing. The window motor would just make a low groaning noise like it was struggling (from what I can tell, previous owner had window motor replaced).

I tried re-installing a few times but no matter how I had them placed, same thing. I'm wondering if these are just bad for the window motors or if it's just a bad fitment for my vehicle design.

Anyone have experience with these?

I would think since you have deflectors you wouldn't need to fully close the windows until you washed it.

i have their in channel deflectors in my Sable.
it has 1 touch auto up/down windows that reverse if they detect an obstruction when closing.

the first week or so, if i didn't hold the switch in the up position it would go up until it hit the edge of the deflector, and start back down. I had to hold the switch in the up position for it to go all the way up.
after a couple weeks, the deflectors seated far enough over that the windows work normally.

Did the window motors make a sound as if they were struggling to close? On the passenger side, at times it would barely go up and certain times not go up at all. I was too worried that I'd burn the motor out that I'd remove it and try to reinstall. At the moment, they are in my trunk and I'm debating whether to try to install or return them.

I've had the Weathertech wind deflectors on my PT Cruiser for many years. I like them and they never gave a problem. The edge that inserts in the window channel is milled thin and doesn't interfere with my window operation. Perhaps the window channel on the Civic is tighter and doesn't offer enough clearance.

I don't recall noises like that, but i believe the trick is once they're installed, and you get the windows up all the way, park it in a sunny place, and do your gosh darndest not to lower the windows for a few days/up to a week. this should allow them so "seat" themselves, so to speak.
