Wilton Vise Revival

Looks great. Glad this great tool has a second life. I would highly suggest not using silicone based grease on the screw and moving parts. Silicone is not good for highly loaded / sliding metal on metal parts. Just about any good syn petroleum base grease would be far better.
Thanks, I may use something else.

Very nice! I have a bullet that I need to paint. I have some red rustoleum primer for it.

My research indicated that the older Wilton was more of a hospital green color, I guess some had that metallic green hammerite finish too?

Beautiful work!

Verde Green would be the color. Good luck finding it, out of production. Here is a can on ebay for $145. I used deep green hammered and paid close to $50.

Could not find hammerite in green hammered either. Smooth yes . But imho i thing the hammered finish looks way better

Better get a can of the dark green hammered , its out of production too.

After the primer/converter cured for 2 days, I sprayed the Rust-Oleum hammered green. I wanted a heavy first coat rather than thin coats so the solvent would make the hammered effect.
Green hammered paint is hard to find. I paid $40 for a can on eBay.

Clear coated the front buffed bracket and the rear cap and assembled.

Used a foam brush coated in black spray paint to paint the lettering.

I used Mission silicone grease for the screw, and the rotating base.
I'm super pleased with how it turned out .

You made it too pretty I wouldn't want to booger it up. Very nice looks great.

Indeed it would if yours is from that era.

Mine is much older, the date on the vice are mid-late 50s, and thus the hospital “sage” green is apparently more correct. There are entire threads on this.

Sounds like a cool vise! I'm looking for another.

That thread is very informative.

I was not as concerned with being original, I wanted it to look good. I like the hammered look.
But the choices in hammered paint are limited.

Some auto body shop supply/paint stores custom mix paints, wonder if they can mix up some for your vise ? Its been known to have one pint spray containers.

I painted mine the Verde Green.

That's cool.

And I crack up every time you guys mention the color - "green" green.
