I bought a Wilton bullet vise that was not missing hardware. I had @Trav and @Astro14 give an opinion before i bought as they have experience with them i don't.

I disassembled it ,and cleaned the existing rust off there was not a lot. I did use some navel jelly to remove some. Some of the existing paint was well adhered so i did not take it all the way to bare metal. I taped it off and sprayed it with rustoleum rust converter.

I planned to use green for the paint so i wanted a black base, the rustoleum converter , primer fit the bill.

Some one used the vise to mig weld an item so the jaws were rough, I ground the mig spatter off with a bench grinder and flipped the jaws over.

I bought a buffer, and used grey ,then green compound to polish all the steel hardware.

After the primer/converter cured for 2 days, I sprayed the Rust-Oleum hammered green. I wanted a heavy first coat rather than thin coats so the solvent would make the hammered effect.
Green hammered paint is hard to find. I paid $40 for a can on eBay.

Clear coated the front buffed bracket and the rear cap and assembled.

Used a foam brush coated in black spray paint to paint the lettering.

I used Mission silicone grease for the screw, and the rotating base.
I'm super pleased with how it turned out .

I hate to see these things handled with kid gloves. They're built to work for when men were men and we didn't ask about pronouns. Beat on that thing!!
Myself/he/him know what you mean … 😷
I wasn’t wise enough to get a Wilton when I was young - so just have a couple “Chilton” from 🇨🇳 … but I did buy big bruisers to offset the quality …

I remember the last part of the "when men were men..." line being a little different.

Looks great. Glad this great tool has a second life. I would highly suggest not using silicone based grease on the screw and moving parts. Silicone is not good for highly loaded / sliding metal on metal parts. Just about any good syn petroleum base grease would be far better.
