Williams Tools origin

Just ordered some Williams tools online for my upcoming birthday (next month). Got a new 3/8 in rachet to replace the [censored] chinese craftsman I got a christmas or two ago. Also got a set of 1/4 SAE sockets.

Started to get a screwdriver but the site listed county of origin as Taiwan. What Williams are made here and what a made elsewhere?

Williams basically has two lines of tools. For most tools, they have a USA made line and an imported line. The imported tools are generally identical to Blue Point tools, since both brands are owned by Snap-On.

The catalog identifies which tools are USA made.

Also, for most of their tools (but not all), the USA made tools have letters and numbers in the part number. The imported tools have only numbers.

If you want to know if an item is made in the USA, double check it in the catalog.

What specifically did you order? I've had both imported and USA made Williams tools, and I've liked them.

Thanks, when you mentioned the letter and number thing I think I remember reading it before.

I ordered:
ratchet - BB52a
SAE set - oops, just noticed that they are taiwan, I'll see if I can switch before they ship

Got to them and got the American made tool set - was 13 bucks more for one less wrench but I think it was worth it. For screwdrivers when I dug some more I found the American ones and some Bahco ones from Spain.

Williams doesn't sell through their website, but there are many online retailers.
