Will you ever buy a new car again?

I will not buy a car with DI engine.

Just buy a car with both, there are enough cars to choose from in that category.

Is there a website that provides a list?...can't seem to find one.

I don't like any new cars. Particularly those with auto-stop, lane warning, steering wheel grabbing robots. I don't even like ABS/traction control so I'm stuck in the early 90s.

Meh, pull some fuses and you'll be good for quite a while! Our Outback is pretty simple really, its got an infotainment screen and a back up camera, but you can pretty much ignore everything and use it like a normal car and you can actually see out of it.

Cars today come with so much stuff I don't need. And some of that stuff can stop the car from operating like a touch screen that operates things instead of buttons and levers. Messing with a touchscreen while driving is not something I would want to do. And this start/stop stuff that in some cars can't be disabled would be a no-purchase for me. Another consideration for me is that I insist on paying cash and that's not part of any financial planning it's just me not wanting to be in debt. I tried it in 03 with the purchase of an 03 4Runner. I financed it with Toyota Financial but after a couple of days I got worried about having a loan and paid it off. I grew up as an orphan/foster child and learned to never ask for something and never be in debt to anyone and even though I'm older those lessons have stuck with me.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what kind of vehicles you're looking at, but there are many great vehicles that are under $20k and if you expand that budget to $25k there is really a lot to choose from.

When I was shopping for a minivan, I could've bought a brand spanking new Grand Caravan Canadian Value edition for $20k plus taxes. When in the past could you get such a deal for an equivalent vehicle?

Now, I didn't get the value edition because I wanted more creature comforts for my family andvmyself, but that was my decision to spend more, not market's fault.

I like new paint every once in a while. In fact, I have a 2018 F150 on order right now. Should arrive in around eight weeks.

Paying attention to what's going on keeps you from plowing into somebody, not ABS... Also I find driving an old beater makes you quite aware that its not going to do well in many accidents so I pay attention.

Depends on what kind of deal I get. Some few-year-old cars are so high priced that you might as well get a new one for just a little bit more. And I am not buying another old strudel - I already own one.

problem is in a few years there won't be any CARS for sale at your local dealer, it'll all be Trucks, SUv's and Crossovers. they keep telling us that "american's don't want sedans" so they can make the vehicles that have a higher profit margin.

just yesterday, it was announced that ford was likely killing the Taurus(again),the Fiesta(for the US market), eyeballing killing off the Fusion. Chevy is making similar moves, Killing the Sonic,Volt, and the Impala in coming years.
A couple weeks back there was an article about ford(well, Lincoln) Killing off the Continental already, because of "slow Sales".
Dodge has already discontinued all their non truck/Suv/cuv models, except for the Charger/Challenger, which they keep "improving" by cramming more power into and jacking up the price...

off hand, anything with the second gen ecoboost 3.5...probably most of the newer ecoboost line as far as ford goes anyway..

There is over two months of inventory on trucks right now, so good deals can be had. I got over $11000 off of the net sticker price on a Ford F-150 XLT six weeks ago. And net sticker already included $2500 in package discounts. There is actually another $500 right now in rebates vs. what there was then, and another $300 if you get the 2.7L Ecoboost (I got the 5.0 V8). But right now I don't think I'd get as good of a discount from the dealer for a couple reasons, so all in all probably break even now vs. then.

OH -OK. You probably should disconnect your air bags too.

Some things are tied together. Had a bad steering angle sensor and I think that disabled ABS, traction control, stability control and also the cruise control. The first three items probably don't matter that much in everyday driving, but not having the cruise control was a pain on a long drive.

Airbags do not interfere with your driving. They only interfere with your crashing.

I need a truck and used truck $$$ are stupid, so I buy new and keep it for 10-15 years

Chances of me buying a new car are slim. I am rebelling against the continual inclusion of electronics and driver aids that decrease the involvement of the driver. One of these days, Car and Driver magazine is going to change its name to Conveyance and Occupant, and will run articles on how to order an organically certified half-caf latte from your conveyance with a minimum of screen taps on your smart phone.
