will tpms service kits work without the tpms sensor?

as usual, when doing any mods to my truck (ordered, not even scheduled to be built yet, '25 ford maverick), my OCD kicks in & I've got to get everything "just right".

for my aftermarket wheels (F1R F21 18x8.5 candy apple/black), I've chosen to go with the schrader 33610 sensor/stem setups in black.

for my spare, which, for financial as well as "probable number of use times" reasons, I'm jsut going with an RT steel wheel in 18X7.5

If I were to purchase a schrader 34010 service kit, can I reliably use this valve stem in my spare wheel without using a tpms sensor? this is going to sound like a stupid question, but, does the actual sensor have anything to do with the valve stem's ability to hold air in the tire?

You should be able to install it exactly as you would if it had a sensor attached. The sensor just hangs on the valve stem with a tiny screw and plays no role in maintaining the tire pressure. The valve stem itself acts as any normal schrader valve with a removeable core. When you install the service kit don't install the sensor retaining screw into the valve stem. It serves no purpose other than to hold the sensor to the stem.

Agree with the above. Why not just use a plain valve stem though?

the 4 on my aftermarket wheels will all be the schrader stems, so might as well have the stem on the spare match..even though the spare is a steel wheel & not fancy..trust me, THAT is killing my ocd, but I *might* be able to live with it if I keep telling myself I'll never have to use it 🤣

plus:
1) schrader is a reputable brand
2) I already have all the torque tools for the schrader TPMS parts
3) can't beat $3.04 for a clamp in stem...with the ability to only order a single unit
