Will Musk be the 1st trillionaire?

Looks like Elon's net worth could hit $1.1T tomorrow.......

Let's say it does. For the most part it is, "paper wealth". Yes, he would actually be worth that much. But there is no way he could liquidate by converting it into cash, real estate, or precious metals without crashing the value of both Tesla and Spacex.

It's much the same deal with Bezos and Amazon, and Gates with Microsoft. (Gates may somewhat of an exception, because today he only owns 1.34% of Microsoft). But even that is a lot... Especially if he wanted to dump it in any kind of timely fashion.

It would take a well engineered selloff of both to try to accomplish. And even then, news of it would leak out, people would immediately start dumping their stock as well, and the result would be the same.... Financial disaster.

In that regard these guys are forced to lay in the financial bed they have created for themselves. No matter if they want to or not...... We all should be lucky enough to feel so, "financially trapped".

Wondering why the Elon hate. What did he do to you? That's right, absolutely nothing except trigger your jealousy gene.
People who hate Musk do so as an extension of their politics. It isn’t rational to actually *hate* the guy. That said, I have to wonder at what point we decide to ask ourselves if any one person should be this insanely wealthy. I say this as someone who has no beef with Musk personally, regardless of his money.

I don't see the harm of exceptional wealth by one individual. Most of the Americans who are exceptionally wealthy are for the most part private about it. Sure, most of them have big yachts, private jets, fancy cars, and lavish homes everywhere.

But that really isn't hurting anything or anyone. It's good for business. Probably the worst side effect from it is a bunch of spoiled rotten children, who have little concept of value.

And many of them give away a lot of money through philanthropy and foundations they create. It may be partially for tax reasons, but they're still giving it away, and others benefit from it.

I would fear far more if the government started taking measures to prevent it. We've all seen in history books what that most always leads to.... And it's never good.

Edison was hated back in the day as well. Someone's going to be on the tip of the spear of technology and the philosophical and societal ramifications take time to catch up, for better or worse.

The IPO is aiming for retail investors, not institutional ones, so it's a meme stock right out of the gate.
Edison also stole a lot of Nikola Tesla’s ideas and claimed them as his own. 🤔

Looks like Elon's net worth could hit $1.1T tomorrow. SpaceX does not turn a profit but that is due to heavy capital expenditures.
The real story is, this is Musk's company; Elon will still control more than 80% of the voting rights.

How rich is Elon? How much is $1T in comparison? Well, #2 Larry Page is worth a paltry $300B.
Disruptive technologies for the win. Go big or go home.

Interesting day tomorrow. The real money just might be in the AI business unit...
You seem to have an unhealthy fascination with this guy. If he has $10 or a trillion it makes no difference to my life or yours.

This sounds like an AI generated defense of robber barons from a bot account.

I'm sure people defended Rockefeller and Carneige back in there day. We have a name for that now.

That dog won't hunt... At all. Please explain how Musk, Bezos, or Gates is hurting you or anyone else for that matter, personally... Besides triggering your obvious jealousy? You can't because they're not. A lot has happened since the days and people you're trying to compare them to.

None of the people I have mentioned could get away with the monopolies and horrible working conditions people like Carnegie created. Society has greatly advanced since the Industrial Revolution took place. Regardless if you want to believe it or not.

It's actually quite the opposite. Labor unions have destroyed big business in several states. Steel in Indiana. Large aircraft construction in southern California. As well as automotive in Detroit. All 3 are basically gone, never to return.

They've been replaced by having all of these areas turned into crime ridden, drug infested stink holes. Because labor unions have busted these companies out by countless strikes for higher and higher wages, benefits, pensions, and ridiculous vacation times.

They now can boast they have some of the highest paid unemployed people in the country.... Although most have either left, or are now leaving in record numbers. (Southern California). How many people do you employ?

Where do you draw the line? The attack on success has limits too. Look at the fine mess in Seattle and beyond.

Plus calling someone a bootlicker?

I say who really cares!?! Most have wealth due to investors believing in their effort, but still not impressed as wealth doesn't make a person any better/different. Still won't invest or buy into anything the dweeb comes up with.

One very significant key to Musk's success is this.

Musk has never been bigger than those on the front lines he is responsible for/leads.

Musk has always been close to those on the front line/ doing the work. Not sure many CEOs can say that. He drives what he makes, lives and sleeps on the factory floors to contribute the solving of issues, and he does manual labor on holidays like Christmas Eve and Christmas. Yes, manual labor including renting a loading a U-Haul box truck.

Can't for a second understand the hate.

Yes, and good for him. I don't own any of his products but if we don't want to go extinct we're going to have to leave this rock and he holds the golden ticket to do it.
